DR. Nadhia Celestin
Prior to joining our primary care team in March of 2017, Dr. Celestin practiced in New York City and New Jersey since 2001. She specializes in family medicine, accepts patients of all ages, and is dedicated to providing care centered around you, the patient. Outside of the exam room one of Dr. Celestin 's passions involves volunteering in the community, so look for her in and around the Gouverneur area. Dr. Celestin did her undergraduate work at Howard University, attended St. Georges University School of Medicine for graduate work, and completed postgraduate work along with a Family Practice Fellowship at the SUNY Health Science Center. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and was first certified with the American Board of Family Medicine in 2005. DR. TAHIR ANWAR
Dr. Anwar joined our team in Gouverneur in October of 2016 after spending three years as a resident physician at the Nassau University Medical Center, Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Anwar earned his degree in Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from New York College of Osteopathic medicine. Prior to this he earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree (MD) abroad. His experience ranges from pediatrics to geriatric medicine. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Medical Association, and is currently licesned by the state of New York. Dr Anwar is duly Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment(OMT). Dr. Anwar is very excited to practice in, and call Gouverneur his families' home.
Ernie S. Cougler, Family Nurse Practitioner
Ernie is a North Country native and graduate of Heuvelton Central School. He originally received his LPN credentials from Northwest Tech in 1981. Two years later Ernie took the next step and became a Registered Nurse after attending the Canton College of Technology. The next stop on his path was Stephen F. Austin University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in December of 1996. After returning to New York Ernie received his Master's Degree from Upstate Medical Center in 2013. He has held positions during his career at Memorial Hospital Center in Texas, and both Gouverneur Hospital and Claxton Hepburn Medical Center here in the North Country. He is accepting new patients 6 months of age and up, and will have extended hours until 8pm Wednesday-Friday. DR. DONALD SCHUESSLER, JR., MD, FAAP
Dr. Shuessler earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., and became Board Certified in 1985 through the American Board of Pediatrics.
